It remains ridiculously cold here.  Bitter air from the Arctic has settled upon us and does not seem to care how very unwelcome it is.  It is cold during the day and even colder at night.  My poor girls have been in the coop under the stairs for days now and are likely to remain there for awhile.  I am glad we have that option for them, but they miss being outside.  (they have no idea how cold it is out there.)

I have been spending a lot of time by the stove knitting and have almost finished my latest sweater.  I used Donegal Tweed yarn so it is going to be toasty warm.IMG_0238
It still needs the ribbing for the neck and then the sides can be sewn up.  I am not sure how I will do the lacing yet, but I don’t think I will lace it all the way up.  I hope to finish it this week end.

Merlin has been busy watching the squirrels at the bird feeders and when he tires of that..IMG_0156He basks in the warmth of the stove.

Fergus spends lots of time napping on his couch, but he still gets his walks.  He doesn’t mind the cold.

IMG_0235Today he found a great stick to play with.  He has always liked sticks and even now that he is a very “mature” dog, he enjoys finding, capturing and chewing one from time to time.

And so it goes.  It is not my favorite time of year and I continue to dream of Spring.  My primroses remain cheery and that helps.  And today..

IMG_4487..this lovely crocus appeared.   How beautiful!

It will be awhile before any crocuses emerge from the frozen ground outside,  but eventually they will.  This will have to do until then.

Stay warm everyone!

Thanks! It is not the chicken one, I put that aside for this one. That will be next. 😊

For some reason this did not go out to followers emails so I am trying again. Apologies if you receive it twice. Patti

The sweater is beautiful, and everyone looks content in spite of the cold.

I think I am the least content member of the family. I am finding lots to do and enjoying knitting by the fire, but I miss being outside and I miss growing things. Winter has always been long for me and this one feels endless and it is not even Feb. yet! Hope your girls are all doing well. I am thinking about taking your sock class….I want to make socks but I am not good with those little needles. See you soon.

Thank you for visiting Brookwood Shire. Please feel free to leave a comment. Your thoughts are most welcome.
