It is bitterly cold today. The girls are in the coop under the stairs, Merlin is dozing on his heater and Fergus and I are snuggled under a blanket. We are looking at pictures taken in 2013.
January brought snow…
February stayed snowy…
March saw life return..
April saw us building raised beds.
May brought much warmer weather.
And the girls began preparing the pumpkin patch for us.
July was HOT. But the gardens survived and heat loving plants were happy.
Tomatoes began to ripen.
August brought more harvest..
And a very unwelcome visitor.
September was cooler.
The sedum began to bloom.
We harvested our first pumpkin.
And the girls began to molt.
October was glorious.
With pumpkins and mums..
But we lost our beautiful Maeve.
November brought gray skies and a brown world.
The gardens were put to bed.
And Fergus and Merlin napped together.
December brought dark days but also festive decorations.
And more cozy fires.
Our solar panels were installed at last.
And snow has returned.
And so the cycle of the year is complete. Winter will hang on for awhile, as nature rests, but Spring will return. And with it life. And the cycle will begin again. That is the true “new year” for me. But the new calendar begins tomorrow, with the new year. And who knows what 2014 will bring?
Happy New Year everyone!
