Life Goes On

The season progresses here at Brookwood Shire. The mornings are dark and cold. There is a stillness in the air….an anticipation. The brown of November is upon us…winter is coming.

The girls are adjusting. They still have some trouble going to bed since Maeve’s spot is empty and they have to find their places anew. But they manage. With the cold, I have added oatmeal to their morning yogurt. I think they approve.

Prudence remains the most enthusiastic and at times needs reminders to share.

I am slowly adjusting to only seeing four girls greet me…..though I will always remember my beautiful Maeve.

And things are getting back to normal inside as well. We have been having our floors redone over the last few days. It is quite disruptive since all the furniture has to be removed. And it takes a few days because they have to put three coats on and it has to dry in between. It was particularly disruptive since one of the rooms we did was the kitchen. But we survived it.

And the floors look AMAZING!!!

It took awhile, but the house is back together at last.

We have a functional kitchen again!

And the furniture is back in the living room.

Fergus is especially relieved about that.

His couch is back! He can finally get some much needed sleep in the proper place!

And now that we can get to the stove, we are back to toasty warm fires.

Merlin is VERY happy about that!

So life goes on. We move forward. We will be ready to welcome the Trick or Treaters when they come tonight.

Happy Halloween everyone!
