Winter Returns

As expected, winter has retuned to Brookwood Shire. We awoke this morning to a snow covered world. Yet, despite the fact that January Thaw teased us with reminders of Spring and a greener world, a world I spend a good part of January and February longing for, the beauty of this morning’s snow was breathtaking. The transformation from greening grass, bare trees and tiny shoots venturing forth, to snow laden branches, bowing trees and fluffy paths was amazing.

There is something quite magical about snow. A silence and calm descending.

Fergus pauses to take it all in.

The camera catches the snow as it falls, magnifying the size of the flakes. There is a blueness to the early morning that is quite lovely.

The coop looks dark. I wonder if the girls are up yet. A quick investigation reveals that they are.

Good morning, Girls! If you look closely you will see a blue egg is waiting for me…they have been busy.

Here are two more. Nature doesn’t stop for a little snow!

So it seems that winter is settling back in for awhile, adding its particular beauty to Brookwood Shire. There will be plenty of time for sitting by the fire and watching the birds and the squirrels at the feeders. Perhaps I will finish the sweater I have been working on…but first I will make a treat for my wonderful girls!
