Christmas Morning

It snowed last night. Just a dusting. Not exactly a white Christmas, but it adds a bit of brightness to the morning.

It is very still and quiet. The kettle is steaming on the stove, its handle gently clicking against its side.

Its cheery fire a beacon of warmth.

Fergus is dozing contentedly on the couch.

Merlin has yet to settle. He is watching the birds at the feeder.

The girls are suspicious of the snow. They are boycotting their run.

Their oatmeal untouched.

It is Christmas. I brought it into the coop for them. Yum!

The tree adds its lights and colors to the day.

It is a quiet morning at Brookwood Shire. Later, we will see friends and neighbors, visit with family, and celebrate the day.

But for now we are content to bask in the simple warmth of home.
