Icy Morning

Yesterday’s drizzle turned to freezing rain last night. It covered the grass, the streets, the cars and the trees. And so we awoke to a changed world. It was not cold enough to be thick and heavy ice…not enough to close schools (though now retired, a teacher always checks for snow days!)…just enough to weigh the tree branches and cause them to bow down.

These adirondack chairs under the pine are enveloped by the lowered branches, creating a cozy cave.

Looking out from under the pine.

The windowboxes were encrusted with ice as well.

The ice coats each branch, outlining it….raindrops captured mid drip. Just lovely.

It will melt soon, but for now it is just exquisite.
