Walking in the Woods

It was a beautiful Fall day today. It was overcast and the colors of the leaves were brilliant. So I brought the camera along when we walked Fergus. Every day we go to a wooded area near the old State Hospital Grounds. So many people walk their dogs there that it has unofficially been named “the dog park”. It is a stunningly beautiful place and we are very lucky to have it.

The path goes through fields, along the river and into the woods.

This is a beach where a lot of dogs swim.

Fergus loves it.

There is tons of bittersweet growing on the trees. It is gorgeous at this time of year, but it does kill the trees it climbs on. I gather some every year for my windowboxes. No one minds.

The path continues through another field.

I love these gnarly old trees by the river.

What a great day for a walk! Fergus can’t stop smiling.

20121009-182005.jpg The woods have an orangey glow that is quite magical.

The river continues through the woods….

…to another favorite swimming spot.

Fergus loves the water.

Time for a snack.

The colors in the upper field are brilliant this year.

Even the ivy is turning!

The bamboo seeds look like little teardrops.

Wild grape climbs up the trees as well.

Almost back to the car now.

“Do we have to go?”

Hope you enjoyed our walk!
