Nesting Boxes

As the days grow darker and the nights grow colder, the girls go to bed earlier and earlier.

We put electric candles in the windows to add a couple of hours of light to the day.

A week ago we hung two new nesting boxes near the window. They had enjoyed sleeping in the windows during the summer so we thought they might like a place to sleep where they could at least look out the window.

But they have been pointedly ignoring them and roosting happily together.

We wondered if they would use them and which two would claim them. If they all wanted to sleep there we thought we could get a few more.

Imagine my surprise when I went up tonight and found

all five of them squished in the two boxes!
They really are funny.

They are really funny. They look so happy all together though. I guess now you will have to get a few more.
